~~Clearly Muddled Blog~~
Autism effects social interaction. It effects communication. It effects the ability to read non-verbal ques. Asking a person on the autism spectrum to speak and respond to a room full of people seems unlikely, but that’s exactly what Josh has done. Boom!
A few days ago, I was a speaker at a conference that focused on people with autism moving into adulthood. At the end of my speech Josh joined me on stage and together we answered questions from the audience. It was amazing! Josh was amazing!
It’s clear that Josh has information to share, advice to give, and support to offer. And he does so with humility and charm. Yeah, that’s right, this Aspie has a knack for connecting with people! Then, he passes out from the utter exhaustion that he feels after communicating with said people. Fortunately for us, it appears that this is a trade-off he’s willing to make.
When Josh was much younger, I had a clear understanding that he was going to grow up to be someone amazing, or he’d be that old man sitting at the bar in the middle of the day. He made it to amazing, and so much more. Turns out, he doesn’t drink! I do.
