Everyone experiences anxiety at some point, but for someone that has an anxiety disorder it can invade every aspect of life. My son-in-law (RJ) describes it as a constant buzzing or vibration that he feels throughout his entire body. Josh says he feels it in his arms, specifically in his elbows…because of course he’s gonna be precise. Anxiety sounds like a jerk, and just hearing about it makes me anxious!
It’s been described to me by Josh and RJ that anxiety can rear up even when things don’t appear to be particularly stressful. That’s because it’s an internal response to thoughts, not necessarily facts. So, things can appear to be working out just fine, but it’s the perpetual “what ifs” that kick off the anxiety.
Anxiety isn’t dependent on feeling sad, insecure, or overwhelmed, and it doesn’t rely on negative events taking place either. It just kind of lurks around, hanging there uninvited, waiting to pounce. It’s absolutely a total and complete jerk!!
No jokes. Just hugs for everyone. Love ya!!
