~ Clearly Muddled Blog ~
I like to exercise. It helps me sleep better, think clearer, and as a huge bonus, it keeps me from being a big fat cranky pants. Josh on the other hand does not like to exercise because it creates sensory overload. He used a treadmill a few times, but felt uncomfortable because it doesn’t have the angles that he depends on when he walks. My reason for not liking the treadmill might involve it having a huge attitude as it knocked me down, flung me like a rag doll, causing me to do some kind of un-natural acrobatic stunt, ending up on the other side of the room, upside down. I actually heard it laughing at me.
The big difference is that I just deal with the hard work that exercise is known for. Josh doesn’t stop having autism just because he needs to exercise…instead, all of his sensory issues join in, full force. He feels everything. All the time. While exercising. All of the sudden, being thrown off of a disgruntled treadmill seems like a joy ride.
