~Clearly Muddled Blog~
The focus on autism tends to be about hardships. Often, it’s about what a person on the spectrum has difficulty with, and what types of adaptations have been found to help. Those things are necessary, and are part of paving the way, but they’re designed to help the neuro-typicals deal with the autistic. That’s why inclusion is super-duper important. Why? Because there’s gold in them thar hills! What? It doesn’t just benefit those on the spectrum. Open your eyes, and you might just witness someone seeing you with their heart.
I get to experience that beautiful view every time I’m with Josh. He’s my very own walking, talking instruction guide on how to live with integrity, honesty, and gentleness. No judgment, no ridicule, no expectation…check. Treat everyone kindly and experience them for who they are right now in this moment…check, check. Let go of anger, hurt, and insult the second they happen…check, check, and check. That’s the gold in them thar hills.
Josh has Autism. He’s my teacher. He’s my hero.
