Josh’s room is a mess. He calls it organized chaos, but it looks like it needs to be cleaned, disinfected…or burned! He says he knows where everything goes and he likes it just as it is. When I walk into his room my head spins because of all the clutter. So, I stay out.
There is one spot in his room that is pristine and organized, and that’s his closet. Clothes are not only hung nice and neat, but they are hung by category. There’s a pattern set by frequency of use, purpose of use, preference, and necessity. They go from left to right, are color coded, and every single piece of clothing has its place.
It’s the dewy decimal system of menswear.
Until these magnificently arranged articles are worn. Then, THEN, they may or may not make it into the used section, called the hamper. These clothes that have been so meticulously taken care of until this point, are discarded as if they don’t even matter. The whiplash is real, it’s confusing, and it’s part of his perfectly organized plan. To me, it’s just chaos.
