Josh loves reading. It has always been his favorite thing to do. He doesn’t watch much, if any, television because books paint a clear and vibrant picture for him in a way that nothing else can.
It took awhile for me to understand just how important and significant books are to him. For most of us a good book is an opportunity to escape into another world. For Josh, books are the chance to stop the constant anxiety that he feels throughout his body. Books calm him. His escape relieves pain and discomfort.
We all look for the remedy when we hurt or when we don’t feel well. We take pills, get shots, have our bones adjusted, our muscles massaged, we soak in a tub, have some wine, take a nap, cuddle with our fur babies, get acupuncture, have surgery, or change our diet. Haha…that last one was just a joke.
Josh has found his own remedy, and when he needs another dose, he just turns the page.
That’s pretty cool.
