The social security administration is super easy to navigate. HAHAHAHA!!
Laugh or cry – those are my choices….so I put on my big girl britches and fill out paperwork, call and then wait on hold, get bad information, call again, get hung up on, go down to the physical location and wait for 5 hours, go back with more paperwork and wait for 4 hours, go back again and wait 2 hours, get it figured out, and Josh is good to go.
Pause. Have a beer, mid-day.
SSI is supplemental security income. It is accompanied by Medicaid. Fortunately, there is also SunCap (in Florida), which Josh uses for food. These programs are wonderful and make a huge difference in his life… and the goal is to not need them at all.
Managing the ins and outs by making sure he’s providing proper documentation to the social security administration and updating wages, sometimes feels like a full-time job itself. Add to that, helping Josh get to work, reminding him he needs clean clothes to wear to work, encouraging him to stay on track at work, talking him through a meltdown at work, and then picking him up from work, doesn’t leave much time for my crazy to subside.
It’ll be okay. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!!
