~ Clearly Muddled Blog~
Right now the majority of us are coming out of a year long government imposed hibernation. For me, it feels like the scene in the movie Hocus Pocus when the spell kept everyone dancing all night long, and then everyone came outside exhausted, and blinded by the bright lights. That’s exactly what it’s been like for me, if dancing was replaced with worry.
A huge chunk of my worry is regarding my autistic son Josh. He needs routine, and man was it hard to keep him moving forward when his normal activities were not an option. Everyone moves at their own pace, but Josh went from slow steam ahead to reverse without warning.
I hear from a lot of people that getting back to the experiences that they enjoyed so much before the country closed, leave them feeling disappointed now. Or confused. Because things just don’t feel the same. This shut down has been a shock to our systems. Granted, it was a lay around on the couch and get fat shock, but the consequences are real.
As venues begin to open, and opportunities to get out and live life again become commonplace, I hope Josh shifts gears again in a forward direction. He’s a guy that doesn’t like change, and getting back to a regular life is a giant, stress inducing change. When he was a kid all it would take was a new kite to get him up, out, and active. But he’s an adult now…so I bought two.
