Voting can be a giant heap of stress for someone with autism. It’s an uncomfortable situation at best, involving social interaction, uncertainties and unfamiliar situations, and ends with a poorly worded test. Oh, and the test must be taken standing up at a thing that’s not a table, or a desk…but it is surrounded by cardboard, which makes it totally official.
When Josh turned eighteen, the legal voting age, he registered as a Constitutionalist. Don’t know what that is? It’s the party that strictly follows the rules as spelled out in the Constitution! RULES!!
Nowadays he’s a registered Independent. Why? Because he does everything his way!
Voting is a grown-up thing to do. Be a grown-up and vote. Then, eat dessert first, run with scissors, and leave the door open even if you weren’t born in a barn.
Be like Josh and do it your way! Vote. You’ll get a sticker!!
